Basic Principles
Emma/Spyder series High Speed/Accuracy fixtureless testers have the flexibility to test 100% of your PCB's without the cost of Expensive Fixtures.
EMMA series advanced technology moving probe fixtureless tester performs continuity and isolation tests simultaneously on both sides of a PCB. Current design includes four/eight moving probes, high-speed closed loop servo/linear motors, advanced technology firmware and easy to use 'Windows' interface. The EMMA series testers will lower your overall electrical test cost while dramatically improving productivity.
4 Probe System

4 Probe System
Integrity of your PCB is verified through continuity and isolation tests. Based on your CAD design, four high speed moving probes (2 front, 2 rear) move in X, Y and Z and test all necessary pad locations.

MicroCraft's revolutionary Linear Motor design (ESM6151), PDM high speed measurement electronics coupled with the latest in software optimization ensure the fastest possible test.

Continuity test Isolation test Phase Difference Measurement (PDM)

Continuity test
EMMA' s high precision resistance measurement unit can detect even the smallest of open traces, splits between trace & pad, Buried, Blind and Micro-vias. Optimized test files can even detect breaks in via and plated through holes.

Isolation test
With menu driven adjustable voltages up to 500 volts, The EMMA series tester can accurately verify isolation between networks. With the aid of software driven adjacency, speed is dramatically improved while keeping test integrity.

Phase Difference Measurement (PDM)
MicroCraft's Electronics division has developed a proprietary high speed, high frequency PDM unit. Unparalleled in the industry for quality and accuracy, proper implementation of the PDM process can improve continuity & isolation test speed by 100-300%.

Moving Probe

Type 6 Probe(Option)
The NEW Type 6 Probe makes the adjustment of probe pressure easier. A simple turn of a volume control on the rear of the head is all that's needed. The One-Touch Type 5 Probe system can be used as well.

Type 6 Probe

Type 5 Probe(Option)
Optional Type 5 probe allows you to easily exchange the probe by One-touch operation.

Type 4 Probe

Type 4 Probe Swapping probe Tips is Easy!

Probe Tip

Blade Tip/Needle Tip
Two types of probe tips are available: "blade" type is suitable for standard boards with through holes, while "needle" type for fine pitch boards such as BGA, etc.
Kelvin Blade Tip/Kelvin Needle Tip
Kelvin Blade Tip/Kelvin Needle Tip
For low resistance measurement, Kelvin probe is al so available at the userfs option. Kelvin probe needle tip achieves 20micron pitch between the two contacts and allows testing of the C4 bumps on the package boards.
New Innovative Clamp Design

As compared with conventional clamping systems that only apply pressure to the ends of the clamp, MicroCraft's NEW clamp design applies pressure to multiple points to hold the PCB with better retention and strength, thus removing any warpage which may affect targeting accuracy.

Side Clamp(Option)

Taking it one step further, MicroCraft's new EMX6151 and EHX4033 can be equipped with side clamps to apply equal pressure to all sides of the PCB under test making thin core material testing extremely efficient. Side clamp is an option.

Vacuum Clamp(Option)

The vacuum clamp system makes probe test possible for incredibly thin core or flexible circuit products. Even die-cut FPCs can be tested effectively. Through a "one-touch" process, the operator can quickly load and unload product.
